Concepción del Uruguay Port Achieves Record-Breaking Export Volumes Since 1999

The Port of Concepción del Uruguay in Argentina has experienced a remarkable year in 2024, reaching export volumes not seen since 1999. With 22 export operations carried out, approximately 336,000 tons of goods have been exported, marking a milestone for the port and the province of Entre Ríos. Including fuel imports, sand transport, and other port activities, a total of 467,000 tons of cargo have been handled so far this year.

One of the standout developments for the port has been the addition of Germany to its export destinations, marked by the first shipment of non-GMO soybeans—a growing interest in European markets. Additionally, wood exports, traditionally directed to India and China, have expanded to include shipments to Uruguay via barge, highlighting the port’s logistical flexibility.

Fuel imports also play a significant role at Concepción del Uruguay’s Pier 23, dedicated to handling flammable materials. This year alone, 25 shipments totaling 91,700 tons of fuel have arrived, supplying YPF’s plant with over 90 million liters of diesel, regular gasoline, and Infinia. These operations underscore the port’s diversified capabilities, supporting both export expansion and regional energy demands.
